Genesis 6
And when man began to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born to them
the sons of God saw the daughters of man, that they were desirable, and they took for themselves wives of all that they chose.
Yahweh said, “My spirit will not always remain in man, because he also is flesh; yet his days will be 120 years.”
The Nephilim were on the earth in those days (and also after this) when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, the famous men.
Yahweh saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
And Yahweh regretted that he had made humankind on the earth, and it grieved him in his heart.
Yahweh said, “I will blot out humankind that I have created from the face of the earth; humans, along with animals, creeping things, and birds of the heavens, for I regret that I have made them.”
But Noah found favor in Yahweh’s eyes.
These are the descendants of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time. Noah walked with God.
Noah was the father of three sons: Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
The earth was corrupt before God, and the earth was filled with violence.
God saw the earth, and behold, it was corrupt, because all flesh had corrupted their way on the earth.
God said to Noah, “I have decided to put an end to all flesh, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. Behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
Make an ark of gopher wood. You are to make rooms in the ark and cover it inside and outside with pitch.
This is how you are to make it: The length of the ark will be 300 cubits, its width 50 cubits, and its height 30 cubits.
You are to make an opening for daylight on the ark, and have it end a cubit from the top. Put a door on the side of the ark. Make it with lower, second, and third decks.
I, even I, am bringing a flood of water on the earth to destroy from under the heavens all flesh in which is the breath of life. Everything that is on the earth will breathe its last.
But I will establish my covenant with you. You are to come into the ark, you, your sons, your wife, and your sons’ wives with you.
You are to bring into the ark two of every kind of living creature—some of all flesh—to keep them alive with you. They are to be a male and a female.
From every kind of bird, from every kind of livestock, and from every kind of creeping thing of the ground—pairs of every kind will come to you to keep them alive.
Take with you some of all the food that is eaten, and gather it to yourself; and it will be for food for you and for them.”
And Noah did this. According to all that God commanded him, so he did.
