OpenScripture account deletion
Request deletion of your account and associated data
This page explains how users of OpenScripture, published by Paul Robson trading as OpenScripture, can delete their app account and the data associated with that account.
How to delete your account
- Sign in to OpenScripture using the account you want deleted.
- Open Profile or Account settings.
- Select Delete Account.
- Confirm the deletion prompt. The app will sign you out once the request finishes.
You can also start from the web at app.openscripture.io/profile. If you cannot sign in, email hello@openscripture.io from the email address on your OpenScripture account and ask for account deletion. We may ask you to verify ownership before acting on the request.
How to delete some data without deleting your account
You can remove many saved items yourself inside OpenScripture, such as individual notes, highlights, bookmarks, bookmark collections, word locks, custom translation text, and personal study profiles. If you want us to delete a specific category of account-associated data while keeping your OpenScripture account active, email hello@openscripture.io from the email address on your OpenScripture account.
In your request, tell us which data you want deleted, for example: notes, highlights, bookmarks, word locks, custom translation text, reader settings, study profiles, feedback reports, or newsletter consent data. We may ask you to verify ownership before deleting account-associated data.
We aim to respond within 30 days. Active app database rows are deleted once the request is verified and processed. Backups or provider-side copies may take up to 90 days to age out of normal retention systems.
Data deleted with your account
When your account is deleted, we delete account-associated app data from the active OpenScripture app database, including:
- your OpenScripture account profile and authentication record;
- synced reader settings and translation preferences;
- notes, highlights, bookmarks, bookmark collections, and word locks;
- custom translation text and personalised Bible/profile data;
- OpenScripture premium entitlement records and web subscription records; and
- newsletter consent metadata connected to your account.
If you subscribed to marketing email, we also unsubscribe your account email from our newsletter provider where possible.
Data we may keep
Some records may be retained where needed for legal, security, fraud-prevention, tax, billing, support, or compliance reasons. This can include payment, tax, refund, dispute, security, operational error, support correspondence, and aggregated or non-identifying analytics records.
- Payment records may be retained for up to 7 years where required by Australian tax law.
- Support correspondence may be retained for up to 2 years after resolution.
- Individual analytics session data is retained for no more than 12 months; aggregate non-identifying analytics may be retained indefinitely.
- Backups or provider-side copies may take up to 90 days to age out of normal retention systems.
Subscriptions
Deleting your OpenScripture account does not replace store-level subscription management. Android subscriptions must be managed in Google Play subscriptions. Apple subscriptions must be managed through Apple ID subscriptions. Web subscriptions are scheduled for cancellation or cancelled through Stripe according to their current billing state.
